Remembering Fred... (1945-2013)

Fred W. Ortmann, III, founded Ortmann Healthcare Consultants in 2001 and led the company until shortly before his illness and death in 2013. Fred had over 30 years of experience in virtually every aspect of the healthcare field and was an unforgettable mentor to each staff member who worked with him.

We used to tease Fred that he was the “grandfather” of Ambulatory Surgery. He was a founding member of the country’s first and premier developer and operator of surgery centers, working with the company for almost 10 years. He worked on the development of Abulatory Suregery Centers (ASCs) in 26 states and was a frequent guest speaker at many national ambulatory surgery meetings and seminars. He also authored a number of articles on the development of ASCs.

He was a leader in his industry, but we will always remember him as the ultimate teacher. He shared his knowledge with us. We will always miss him.
